The Nearly Original Painkiller (as close as we can get)

An Island Cocktail That’s like a mini-vacation

The Painkiller Cocktail was born on the island of Jost Van Dyke at the Soggy Dollar Bar. As the story goes, the founder of Pusser’s Rum visited the tiny bar to try the locally famous drink. Over time he became great friends with the owner, but, alas she would not share her recipe with him.

This particular version is touted to be as close to the original as possible, but we may never know how close it actually is. However, I do know that it’s delicious.

Pusser’s Rum is the rum of choice for this Painkiller recipe. Mix in cream of coconut, pineapple juice, and orange juice. The pièce de résistance is the freshly grated nutmeg sprinkled on top. This fruity concoction also makes a great batch drink, which is perfect for parties.

The next time you need a little vacation, mix up a Painkiller. Close your eyes and imagine your feet in the sand, palm trees overhead, and a gentle breeze on your face.
