Bourbon Sweet Potatoes

A delicious combination of bourbon, orange juice and spices come together in this sweet potato recipe. This easy recipe can be made ahead and popped in the oven with your other holiday side dishes.

Ingredients
  

  • 5-6 medium sweet potatoes, baked, peeled, and sliced into ½-inch slices
  • cup butter
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup orange juice
  • cup bourbon
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray
  • Arrange sweet potato slices in baking dish
  • In a small saucepan combine butter, brown sugar, orange juice, bourbon, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg
  • Heat over medium heat until bubbly
  • Pour the bourbon mixture over the sweet potato slices
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top
  • Bake at 350℉ for 30 minutes

Notes

  • This recipe can be made ahead and popped into the oven along with your other holiday side dishes. Just take it out of the fridge about a few minutes before cooking
  • The sweet potatoes can be baked, peeled, and sliced ahead of time
  • I like to cook the sweet potatoes until they are done, yet still firm. This makes them easier to slice
  • It is easier to peel and slice sweet potatoes after baking.  Allow them to come to room temperature first
